Isolation, most of the modern families are nuclear with working parents, hence children don’t get required attention and care from parents which sometimes trigger depression. Children with no siblings are worst effected.
Excessive screen time also contribute to depression, Children spend lot of free time on playing games, on social media etc which effect their overall development and sometimes lead to depression.
Life events like divorce of parents, death of someone in family etc. can be traumatic for children and may often need professional help to cope with event. Children with family history of depression often have higher chances of depression.
There can be countless reasons of depression among children, some of the reasons of depression are triggered by serious life events while sometimes cause of depression is just negative thinking pattern of child. Whatever is the cause children with depression often need help.
Parents can identify that child is depressed by way of symptoms eg. child might be sad and does not show interest in playing, or child may have behavior issues eg. getting angry on small things or sudden drop in education scores. Sometimes children don’t express their thoughts and parents consider it as normal behavior. In the extreme cases depression can lead to unimaginable outcomes.
